2011 and beyond....thank your body. It works hard for your resolutions.

Happy New Year everybody!

Sigh...I really, really do NOT want to do the cliche fitness trainer thing and talk about weight loss goals or ideal body fat percentage for 2011.  Yes they are very vital elements of wellness to be considered seriously, but such stringent outlines for 2011 goals/resolutions are a drag.  Not to mention adherence is null when you're glued to a scale.

Fortunately I can give people wellness focus outside aesthetics and perpetual calorie counting. I have no doubt that every single one of my clients are going to, in some way shape or form,  meet their goals and satisfy their Type A resolution demands.  I do, however, sincerely doubt that everyone is going to be grateful for their bodies and wellness progress.  It never ceases to amaze me how much negative self talk I hear while training!  We are all so discerning and critical of ourselves.  Fine.  I understand that it's often this criticism that's the catalyst for getting your butt in the gym in the first place.  But it's also destructive.  Destructive both to ourselves and our goals.

Before we get into our 2011 fit vision, it's mandatory to thank our bodies/minds for all that they've given us.  Remember it's a privelage to be able to be at the gym.  A privelage to sweat.  A privelage to move.  A privelage to be sore.  Our bodies, imperfect in many ways, are a gift.  This year make sure to thank your body before you hammer away at it with resolutions.
